Drishyam 2 begins right where it ended in the first part. It has been six years since Georgekutty (Mohanlal), Rani (Meena) and their kids were stuck in the case of murdering Varun, son of Inspector Geetha Prabhakar (Asha Sharath). But, the village where Georgekutty lives, doesn’t want to let go of them. And neither do the police.
Asha’s friend, who is the current IG investigating the case, deploys shadow police officers to get the truth out of Georgekutty and his family.
But, Georgekutty is always prepared. How does he manage to escape from the police officers this time forms the rest of the story?
Like Drishyam, the second part starts as a family drama as well. George, Rani and their two daughters are still going through the trauma of dealing with police brutality and the murder of Varun. Every time a police vehicle crosses their house, it rattles them. Even though Varun deserves to be punished, Georgekutty and their family live a punished life for murdering him.
The complexity in their lives and the constant fear they live in are shown perfectly well in the initial set of sequences. The story also moves forward Georgekutty, who owned a cable TV service in the first part, is now a theatre owner. His passion for films has pushed him to work on a script that he’d produce.
